Rivers and Ties - Remember me when I'm gone A site specific temporary installation created in collaboration for the Roundhouse's 10th Anniversary Celebrations. Reflecting on the local history and the beauty of our natural environment, a pathway was created using ephemeral materials to connect the Roundhouse to the water's edge. Sawdust ties were stencilled along the rails beginning from the roundhouse turn-about. Ten commemorative willow boats, flowers and leaves created markers along this railway path leading to the water's edge and the ring of boulders. Inspired by Goldsworthy, the boulders became a canvas for flower petals. This was also the site of our paper boat launch at dusk...remember me when I'm gone. Artist Team: C. Sabo, H. Okana, G. Anderson Location: Roundhouse, Vancouver

Our Path - Footprints Project A temporary site specific outdoor installation created from sand and stone in collaboration with Seattle artists, Julie Custer and Teresa Redden and our local community. Our Path explores who we share our earth with and serves as a turning point to
reconnect us with our earth and each other. A number of community workshops
were held to create “footprint stencils” out of recycled cardboard. The
community members were encouraged to create footprints…human…animal…plants...these
footprints were stenciled with sand, creating the path of the labyrinth. The labyrinth is evidenced in many cultures as a symbol of self discovery and the search for the centre of life. It also serves as an entrance to new phases of life. Within the labyrinth lies the opportunity for transformation and renewal. This project was accessible to the public and exposed to the elements of our environment for the duration of the World Peace + World Urban Forums. It evolved over the course of two weeks as it was shared with the many members of our community as well as the sun, wind and rain... Artist Team: C. Sabo with guest artists J. Custer + T. Redden
SAWUBONA II What's Your Treasure? Sawubona is a Zulu greeting meaning "I see you, I acknowledge you and you are a member of my community" South Africa - Canada- Youth and Community coming together in celebration of the creative process. This project raised local awareness of at risk youth in Durban South Africa and Umcebo Trust, an organization dedicated to positive change through art. Using recycled and discarded materials such as tin cans, bottle caps, bits of wire, glass plastic bags and packaging labels, they miraculously transform these "waste materials" into amazing works of art that speak to the many global and social issues relevant not only in Durban but to us as we. Over the course of a three month Roundhouse Residency a series of Youth Workshops and Elsie Roy Elementary School Workshops were held to explore global/local social realities through art making using recycled materials, found objects and other alternative art media combined with traditional and non traditional techniques and methods. All the collaborative works along with art work from Umcebo Trust and works created by local artist became part of a colourful exhibition and Gala Auction Fundraiser for Umcebo Trust. Artist Team: C. Sabo, L. Eustace, J. Robinson with guest artist E. Honig
