MANDALA Contemporary Interpretations of The Ancient Form
The word “mandala” is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean “circle,” a mandala is far  more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself. Artists, Nola Avienne, Sarah Barrick, Eric Carson, Brian Fisher, Carl Gombert, Terra Holcomb, Chris Moench, C.Andrew Rohrmann and Connie Sabo explore the ancient form of the mandala and reinterprets its concept in a variety of intriguing ways.

Voices From Another Room
Showcasing paper as an artistic medium and demonstrating its versatility beyond the role of a mere surface for other materials, Rachael Ashe, Alison Woodward, Joseph Wu, Connie Sabo and Sara Gee Miller produce strikingly different styles of work but approach working with paper through similar methods. They transform this materials using one or more techniques of cutting, folding twisting, painting but with a unique take on the end result. The work in this exhibition reveals the infinite possibilities of paper as alchemical material in the creation of intriguing pieces of fine art and craft.

information + impression
information + impression examines the dichotomy of how information can enlighten us as well as contain and control us. Impressions formed by the information we receive become the basis of our beliefs and actions, defining who we are as individuals and as a society. The availability and our access to information increases daily, feeding and fueling the constant cycle of transmission and exchange.
information + impression represents the physicality of communication on a very primal and human level. The work is created entirely out of newspaper, the ubiquitous daily news, a tactile sliver of our recent history: a selection of information that has been deemed important enough to impress into the record. The paper is torn into strips then twisted to create warps and wefts which are woven together to create a transformation of this information. This process is rote, mundane, calming and contemplative. It becomes a different message, making twists and turns on a new path. It is organic and pulse-like and grows with awareness of what is absent.
