About Connie

Picture
Connie is a Vancouver-based artist whose sculpture and mixed media installations explore cycles, sustainability, and our evolving relationships with the environment and urban spaces. Growing up in East Vancouver, she graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and was later honored with the Governor General’s Medal of Excellence from the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in 2003.
Her practice is grounded in experimentation with materials—blending traditional techniques with unconventional, often found or alternative, media. This fusion challenges cultural narratives and examines the intersection of history, place, and possibility. Connie’s work is frequently site-specific
and process-driven, combining meditative repetition with a deep sensitivity to the everyday. She transforms the mundane into poetic gestures, inviting viewers to reconsider their connection to the
world around them.

Connie is a founding member of AgentC Projects, a Metro-Vancouver based curatorial collective, founding member of the Thought Train Collective, and past Vice-Chair for the Eastside Culture Crawl Society.
